Description:

Round porcelain box with cover decorated in underglaze blue. This circular box has a flat-topped cover and a flat base with a narrow foot ring. The two halves of the box are probably married together, belonging to two different boxes of similar design, shape and size. The cover is painted on top with a large roundel containing an inscription, and with eight smaller roundels framing inscriptions around the sides, interspersed with triangles and 'ruyi' heads. The tray is adorned with three roundels alternating with three octofoil cartouches framing inscriptions, separated by single lotus scrolls. There is a six-character Zhengde reign mark within a double ring on the base.
