Ta ʿalluk buyurulmuş edüğünden Donanmáyi; 9. Hümáyún bú Saḥilda iken şehidan vefát; 10. Eden reʾīs-i liman-ı esbaḳ Kaşotī 11. el-Seyyid Aḥmed Begin rúhiçün fátiḥa. Fí 17 D. 1238/27 August 1823. Inscription translation: He is the Eternal One "[Recite] a Fatiha for the soul of Seyyid Ahmed Beg of Kasos, formerly harbourmaster, who performed more than sixty years of faithful service to the Ottoman State and who, in his retirement, at the Sultan’s command, was attached to the Imperial Ottoman Navy, which had been ordered to cleanse the Mediterranean of traitors of the Greek Community who at that time were in revolt. While the Imperial Ottoman Navy was on those shores he died a martyr. 17 D in the year 1238 Inscription note: Translation by Ünver Rüstem Script naskh, 11 lines with horizontal lines between. The turban is of the makdem type, worn by those in naval professions. |
